Rapid Re-Design

Factair Ltd reached out to us with a problem. A valuable pressue sensor used across their range of air quality testing instruments had ceased production and become unavailable. Due to outstanding orders, they needed an alternative solution immediately.

Through corraspondance it was conveyed they had found another suitable sensor but it was incompatible both electronically and mechanically with their existing instrument.

Our team at Altion Engineering quickly put together a design for a PCB that took the new sensor and altered its signal such that it replicated the old sensor. We also added a new feature that could imitate an additional sensor of different pressure range. This allowed the new sensor to replace two obesolete ones, thus help saving cost. We then designed and machined a custom enclosure to adapt the new sensor to fit the test instrument without modification.

A complete solution was then provided to Factair as a drop in replacement. The replacement sensor both was less expensive than the original and has shorter lead time.
