Industrial Data Logger

Aggregate Industries approached us with an interesting requirement for recording process data, with the catch being a very short lead time. Aggregate Industries had been successful in winning a grant for researching waste heat recovery in large scale industrial processes, however they needed to first quantify how much waste heat was available.

To meet the data collection requirements, Altion Engineering designed and built the RDL-10, a fully bespoke, rugged data logger that has inbuilt cloud networking. The RDL-10 can monitor 6 high accuracy temperature sensors, 2 pitot tube flow meters and 2 digital inputs, and has been designed specifically to record stack information in an industrial environment. Data is recorded locally, as well as uploaded to the cloud for remote analysis and backup. The RDL-10 features a large touch screen mounted inside a pelican-style case, for easy commissioning and installation. Once the install is complete, the lid can be sealed shut, and the RDL-10 needs no further environmental protection.

Drawing up an initial specification to providing training on the finished equipment took less than 5 weeks, with the on-site sensor installation being completed by Aggregate Industries own on-site fitters, with limited special training required.
